A case of parvo.

One thing pretty much all pet parents can agree on is that we believe that no puppy should suffer a life-threatening illness, for any reason. Unfortunately, things aren't always about what we believe; instead, sometimes problems come in the form of a highly contagious and deadly disease: canine parvovirus.

If you don't know about parvovirus, both you and your dog are very lucky. Parvo is a virus that mainly affects puppies, it damages the intestines and usually manifests itself through bloody diarrhea. It is not something you want your pet to have.

We mention, for example, Drako, a barely 4 months old pitbull puppy with said symptom. He was hospitalized as soon as we diagnosed him and began receiving treatment to recover. Sure, we still had to keep an eye on him constantly.

Little by little, Drako improved, hand in hand with a whole medical team supporting him. After his discharge, he returned for a follow-up checkup and vaccinations that will prevent him from returning for the same reason in the near future.

In the end, Drako was able to return home to his family, where he belongs. Very young, but very brave.
