A pup in trouble.

This tiny fella you see here is a seven-weeks-old puppy who had to visit DogLover Animal Hospital very early in life, even before he could get a proper name. Talk about a rough start.
On this occasion, this little guy showed up with a history of acute vomiting. Knowing it not to be a good sign, his owners decided to bring him in ASAP.

Given his history, we thought some imaging studies would be a good way of knowing exactly what the problem was, and we seemed to be right.
The x-rays showed a pair of foreign objects inside this puppy that were clearly causing some serious trouble. Not being even two months old, the risks of a surgery were simply huge for our little patient, but it soon became obvious that we’d have to take them regardless.

Understanding the risks, this brave little pupper’s owners agreed to the surgery that would save their new companion. Since abdominal surgery is always serious business (more so with such a young patient), we took every safety measure available until we found and removed the objects seen in the x-rays.
Coming out of the O.R. our pup seemed to be perfectly fine, though he would definitely need a lot of rest. Slow and steady he gained more and more strength, hoping to go back home soon, until on the fourth day after the surgery he was strong enough to be sent back to his family!

When it comes to puppies, you can’t ever take your eyes off them.
Oh, and as for the villains of this story? A couple of pencil erasers and whole lot of hair.
“Keep out of reach of children.”

And this is our brave little patient nowadays! Happy back home, and now officially named Floky.
