Step by step towards recovery.

This photogenic little guy is Oliver, a frequent guest at our dog hotel. Although we usually see him to take him straight to his suite, this time he visited our clinic after having some trouble walking. No puppy deserves anything less than a healthy and happy life, so we immediately got him checked out.

There are many reasons why a dog could have problems walking (sudden movements or orthopedic problems, for example). After a very close review by his orthopedist, Oliver received his diagnosis: a cranial cruciate ligament rupture in not one, but both knees. It was no surprise Oliver couldn't walk; this kind of injury can be very debilitating and extremely painful. So much so that, if left untreated, it can even lead to osteoarthritis. It became clear that surgery was needed.

Dealing with one of these wounds can be challenging, let alone two! Fortunately, both procedures were successful and Oliver came out of the operating room without any problems. Sure, an important part of his recovery was physical therapy, but about a month of following it with great discipline showed a very good evolution!

Oliver's recovery may not have been immediate, but step by step, he soon walked much better. Enough to be able to go home to his family! You have to love happy endings.
